Telling VIP’s about Get Fed, July 23

Banburyshire to the House of Lords

Eamon has energy!

Driven, ambitious, motivated by money.

From a big family, he's learned from a squad of older brothers - there's no room for slackers.

Bored by lessons - other than English - Eamon needed strong relationships with teachers he respected to support his learning - otherwise his impulse was to disrupt or disappear.

Get Fed was a different kind of offer.

Eamon was enthused by the idea of enterprise.

He quickly learned his bari-star skills and set about charming his customers with his edgy banter.

Offered the chance to visit the House of Lords Eamon embraced the opportunity and solemnly held the attention of Lord Janvrin and assorted VIP's (pictured).

In June 2024 he was part of the pitch-winning team that scooped 2nd prize and £1000 at Oxford University's start up Demo Night.

Eamon is irrepressible when presented with the right challenge.

One of our first gigs was a cold and wet Saturday at a local pub 'festival' where almost nobody turned up.  This totally failed to dampen Eamon's zeal and he smiled and joked his way through the afternoon realising the value, for a start-up business, of simply turning up and getting the name out there.

That's huge business nous and motivation at 14 years of age.  One to watch for sure. 👊🏼

Eamon remains in touch with Get Fed is employed and attending a course in hospitality.

WE'VE GOT ANSWERS

  • What’s the story?

    Get Fed tuk tuk

Get Fed was founded by Tim Parkhouse, a Youth Worker with  20+ years experience in Criminal Justice.

Tim saw the rising numbers of excluded children and those missing school, the closed youth clubs and the success of the drug dealers and wondered how things could be improved for young  people who are not academic but are entrepreneurial?

Fed up with constant cuts to funding he needed a Social Enterprise to provide the resources to work with some of our brightest talent who do their best work outside of the classroom.

An amazing corporate sponsor bought us our little coffee van and we started training young entrepreneurs in barista and business skills.

    It works!  ☕️🤎✌🏼

  • How does someone access the program?

    Get Fed tuk tuk

Get Fed works with partner schools and also young people who have statutory Social Work intervention.

  • How much does it cost?

    Get Fed tuk tuk

Sessions with young people are usually funded by school or other statutory agencies so there is no cost to the family or individual.

  • How can I help?

    Get Fed tuk tuk

    Easy!!

    Follow us on social media!

    Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Sign post us to gigs in our community.

Come and buy coffee from the freshest Bari-stars in town.

    Donate to support our mission.

  • Who is eligible?

    Get Fed tuk tuk

Young people aged 13 - 17 at risk of exclusion and/or exploitation.

  • Why coffee?

    Get Fed tuk tuk

Young people who are not doing well at school are more likely to be excluded and more likely to be exploited into criminal activity.

We know they don't drink coffee but they probably don't use cocaine when they are groomed by gangsters.

Teaching them how to make and sell frothy coffee is our way of trying to replicate the success of the drug dealers; safely and legally.

  • Caffeine not cocaine? What kind of choice is that?

    Get Fed tuk tuk

For 10's of thousands of children in the UK the reality is they are missing school and maybe desperate for cash possibly even just to feed themselves.  Selling cocaine is a quick route to cash but at great risk.

Get Fed promotes enterprise and provides the opportunity for young entrepreneurs to learn employment skills and earn on our coffee van.  No child should feel forced into drugs exploitation or modern day slavery.

  • Is Get Fed a charity?

    Get Fed tuk tuk

    Not quite.

We are a Community Interest Company Limited by Guarantee which is legally as close as you can get to being a charity.

We are 'not for profit' so all surplus income is used to help more young people become even sharper hustlers.  Safely and legally.  ✌🏼
